Hello, Brazil! Snowflake Initiates Operations in Brazil

The Brazilian ICT market is only continuing to grow, according to IDC, and its forecast projects that data-driven business initiatives will be one of the top trends in years to come. Specifically, IDC anticipates businesses will place analytics, AI and ML, and data management as top priorities. In the 2022 edition of the the Global Innovation Index (IGI), Brazil rose three positions, and at the launch event of the Global Innovation Index 2022, the county’s Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovations, Paulo Alvim, spoke about the country’s investments in digital transformation among other strategic initiatives. Snowflake is excited to announce that it has now initiated operations in São Paulo, Brazil.

We are not entirely new to Brazil; Snowflake is already used by some of Brazil’s leading organizations, including Azul Linhas Aéreas and Petz. Customers throughout the country and the rest of Latin America are increasingly turning to Snowflake. Now, we’ll have a dedicated local team speaking to the established value of the Snowflake Data Cloud—where Snowflake customers, partners, and data providers can unite siloed data, discover and securely share data, and derive value from their data sets in ways that also support compliance with an ever-evolving regulatory landscape. Snowflake already delivers a single data experience that spans clouds and geographies, but we’re thrilled to further establish a physical presence in Latin America and prove that, with the right partner, any business can be data-driven.

José Nilo Martins, Snowflake’s country manager for Brazil, is focused on building the strategy and team to support Snowflake’s growth in the region. He is a sales leader experienced in leveraging the cloud to drive digital transformation projects in Brazil’s leading companies. He previously held leadership roles in technology companies such as AWS, Google, and IBM.

“Snowflake has landed in Brazil to work with customers that aspire to strengthen their corporations’ ability to compete with timely, valuable data,” says Martins. “The market demand is growing at a double-digit rate, fueled by the adoption of cloud-based technology and the innovative Brazil startup market, which in 2021 amounted to about half of LATAM’s VC investments. Therefore, we will bring our team closer to Brazilian tech leaders to help their data modernization initiatives impact their companies’ bottom line, allowing IT teams to be successful.”
