How to Watch The Resident: Season 6 Release Date
The Resident season 6 premiere will air on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 8 p.m. (ET). Those in the U.S. can watch it on FOX, the FOX NOW app or by logging in to the FOX website with a TV provider. Accepted providers include Hulu with Live TV, fuboTV, YouTube TV and Sling TV. If you’re subscribed to one of these services, you can also watch the FOX channel there.
As with all FOX shows, the season 6 premiere will be available on demand on Hulu the following day. An extra tip for medical drama fans — Grey’s Anatomy season 19 will also stream on Hulu on Oct. 7, 2022, one day after it airs on ABC on Oct. 6.
FOX, Hulu and streaming services with FOX are only available in the U.S. due to regional restrictions. If you have an account with these services but are traveling outside the U.S., you can access your U.S. accounts with a VPN.
To subscribe to Hulu and other services with FOX, you need a U.S. payment method, which makes things a tad tricker for people overseas who don’t have one. There is a workaround, though. If you don’t have a U.S. payment method, you can buy a prepaid Hulu gift card from an online vendor.
We’ll show you how to do this further down.
How Can I Watch The Resident Season 5 & Previous Seasons?
Previous seasons of The Resident are available on a few platforms, including Hulu, Amazon Prime Video (purchase only), Vudu (purchase only) and iTunes (purchase only). You can also stream season 5 on FOX’s website.
How to Watch The Resident for Free
The FOX website allows you to sample content for free for 60 minutes with its preview pass, but this isn’t feasible if you plan on watching more than one episode. When the 60 minutes are up, the website will prompt you to sign in with your TV provider.
If you’re in the U.S. or have a U.S. payment method, you can take advantage of Hulu’s 30-day free trial to stream The Resident. If you plan on watching The Resident when it airs, some livestreaming services with FOX also offer free trials, including YouTube TV and fuboTV.
Unfortunately, if you don’t have a U.S. payment method, you won’t be able to get a free trial with Hulu or other U.S. services (except for fuboTV — we were able to sign up for its trial without a U.S. payment method), but you can get a prepaid Hulu gift card.
How to Watch The Resident With a VPN
For those outside the U.S., this tutorial shows you how to sign up for Hulu without a U.S. payment method and stream The Resident from anywhere.
If you have a U.S. payment method or already have a subscription to a service that streams FOX, you do not need to purchase a Hulu gift card. You only need to follow the steps for using a VPN and logging in to Hulu or your streaming service of choice.

The 3 Best VPNs for Watching The Resident Online
When you’re new to VPNs, it can leave you feeling a bit lost. Check out our top VPN recommendations for streaming if you’re unsure which provider to pick.
1. ExpressVPN
ExpressVPN will get you into Hulu and streaming The Resident in a matter of seconds.
Pros:
- Very user-friendly
- Excellent speeds
- Unblocks streaming services
For streaming your favorite The Resident episodes, ExpressVPN is our number one recommendation. An old hand in the VPN world, ExpressVPN is an excellent streaming VPN, thanks to its robust security, great speeds and consistent performance with major streaming services like Hulu, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
One of the main reasons we recommend ExpressVPN — especially if you’re not familiar with VPNs — is its user-friendliness.
If you’re just starting out, you’ll want something you can find your way around with minimal hassle. Both its desktop app and mobile app are really easy to navigate, which also won it the top spot in our best VPN for mobile post.
To learn more about ExpressVPN, check out our ExpressVPN review. If you want to try ExpressVPN out, you can take advantage of its 30-day money-back guarantee.

2. NordVPN
NordVPN is a lightning-fast, reliable VPN provider for streaming TV shows and movies.
Pros:
- Unbeatable speeds
- User-friendly desktop
- Decently cheap 2-year plan
If you’re planning on streaming mostly from your PC or streaming device, NordVPN is one of our top recommendations. Its desktop app interface is in the form of a world map, which is perfect for switching servers quickly and navigating your way around — especially if you’re a beginner.
The world map is a little trickier to navigate on the mobile app, though.
In our recent speed tests, NordVPN crept into the top spot, which also makes it our best fast VPN recommendation. Speed is a crucial factor to consider when deciding which VPN to use for streaming, as you’ll want a buffer-free, lag-free experience. To find out more, check out our NordVPN review and NordVPN vs ExpressVPN comparison.
NordVPN also has a 30-day money-back guarantee if you’d like to try it out.
3. Windscribe
If you’re planning on getting a Hulu free trial, you might want to try Windscribe’s free plan.
Pros:
- 15GB monthly free plan
- Good speeds
- U.S. servers on free plan
Cons:
- 3-day money-back guarantee
- Limited servers on free plan
When it comes to free VPNs, there are terrible ones and there are great ones — Windscribe is one of the great ones. It offers a 15GB-per-month (2GB at first, 5GB if you verify your email and 5GB more if you tweet about Windscribe) free plan that’s just as secure as its paid plans and consistently gets past geoblocks on streaming services like Hulu and Netflix.
The only issue here is that you get a limited number of servers and 15GB will only get you through a few episodes.
Luckily, Windscribe is pretty flexible with the paid plans it offers. You can choose between a monthly plan, yearly plan and the build-a-plan option. The latter allows you to pick only the servers you want for a dollar each per month. There’s a $3 minimum spend, but you can also add unlimited data for $1 per month.
