Hello Mexico! – Snowflake Blog

The World Bank lists Mexico among the fifteen largest economies in the world and the second largest economy in Latin America. In fact, the GovTech Index, as reported by Statista, considers Mexico the third most developed entrepreneurial ecosystem in Latin America, highlighting the country’s great potential as a beachhead for technology companies. Snowflake is excited to announce that it has initiated operations in Mexico.

We are not entirely new to Mexico; Snowflake is already used by some of Mexico’s leading organizations, including DEACERO, REWORTH, and the Department of Innovation at Tecmilenio University. Customers throughout the country and the rest of Latin America are increasingly turning to Snowflake, and now we’ll have a dedicated local team explaining the value of Snowflake’s Data Cloud—where Snowflake customers, partners, and data providers can unite siloed data, discover and securely share data, and derive value from their data sets in secure and governed ways that also allow compliance with an ever-evolving regulatory landscape. Snowflake already delivers a single data experience that spans clouds and geographies, but we’re thrilled to establish a physical presence in Latin America and prove that with the right partner, any business can be data-driven.

Sergio Sanchez Polo, Snowflake’s country manager for Mexico, is focused on building the strategy and team to support Snowflake’s hyper-growth in the region. Sergio is a sales leader with over 25 years of experience in the software and enterprise industry at many companies including IBM, Microsoft, Cisco, and Tableau.

“Snowflake regards our Mexico operation as a strategic investment in developing and expanding into the whole Latin American region,” Sergio said. “According to Forbes, Mexico City is ranked among the best cities for startups in Latin America, second only to São Paulo. With Mexico and the LATAM region continuing to accelerate their adoption of cloud technologies, there is a huge need to unlock the value of the data they are generating to make data-driven decisions that will fuel the growth of their companies. In addition to offering proximity to the U.S. market, Mexico City is an important foothold in making Snowflake a truly global company.”
